Erik Seidel出生于纽约。Erik在20世纪70年代也就是他17-18岁的时候开始专心于西洋棋并能靠这个赚取日常花费。他进入布鲁克林大学，在拿到学位之后计划找一个“真正的”工作，但是有时“真正的”工作是令人腻烦的。西洋棋就让他忙碌起来，他非常喜欢参加锦标赛。后来Erik被朋友介绍去做股票贸易。

6 o5 }/ o8 O5 G3 K: X+ g6 E; i5 [ 2005年是Erik另一个“黄金”年代，因为他赢得第七个比赛并拿走了$612,000。他的妻子记得“在那么多选手比赛的情况下，我从不认为他会再次进入最后一桌的比赛。”但是他却好到无法停止。

+ J; i$ l- V; @& K# @ Erik最近的一条 WSOP 手镯获得于2007年，他在 $5K World Championship No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Lowball 赛事中取得了胜利。八条手镯让他在 WSOP 手镯历史榜上与其他玩家并列第5名，而60次获得 WSOP 奖金则使他与其他玩家并列第4名。
