Erik Seidel 曾经是西洋双陆棋戏的职业玩家，也在华尔街当过商人。Seidel首次进入大型锦标赛的钱圈就与Johnny Chan进行单挑。他们对决的那局牌被电影《赌王之王》引用。

Erik Seidel出生于纽约。Erik在20世纪70年代也就是他17-18岁的时候开始专心于西洋棋并能靠这个赚取日常花费。他进入布鲁克林大学，在拿到学位之后计划找一个“真正的”工作，但是有时“真正的”工作是令人腻烦的。西洋棋就让他忙碌起来，他非常喜欢参加锦标赛。后来Erik被朋友介绍去做股票贸易。

在20世纪80年代中期，Erik去了几次拉斯维加斯参加世界西洋棋业余选手锦标赛这样的比赛。在一次旅行中，他开始玩扑克，并且在他回到纽约之后也开始玩很多的扑克。在著名的Mayfair俱乐部中有一些桥牌和西洋棋选手开始定期的玩扑克，而在那里玩牌的人中有很多的好手，其中的代表有Howard Lederer 和 Dan Harrington。

3 Z( U& z) {- J! j: D0 x/ S& P 1992年，Erik在$2500有限hold';em比赛的中赢得他的第一个WSOP金手链。接下来的两年里，每年他都获得了一个手链，拿下了Omaha$2500比赛和接下来的1994年$5,000有限hold';em比赛。胜利让他决定离开纽约，到一个玩牌更容易的地方去，他劝服了他的妻子Ruah搬到了赌城拉斯维加斯。

自从搬家以来，他们一起玩网球，Erik一直保持十分健康的身体和精神为他连续赢得锦标赛打下基础。他的资本随着他的不断杰出的表现了变得越来越多，Erik在1998年又把两个加入到他总共7个WSOP冠军头衔中。1999年他成功杀入WSOP ME决赛桌，但是遗憾的倒在了第四名。

Erik最近的一条 WSOP 手镯获得于2007年，他在 $5K World Championship No-Limit Deuce-to-Seven Lowball 赛事中取得了胜利。八条手镯让他在 WSOP 手镯历史榜上与其他玩家并列第5名，而60次获得 WSOP 奖金则使他与其他玩家并列第4名。

. ?/ I* j8 S/ E; d8 J Erik是一位非常全面的扑克选手。他已经在WSOP 5种不同玩法的游戏中拿到了金手链。而这个成绩历史上只有4人能做到，他们分别是鼎鼎大名的Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan和Johnny Moss。在World Poker Tour第六季中，Erik成功在2008 WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic赛事中夺冠，并获得$992,890美元奖金。
