瑞波公司（Ripple）与美国证券交易委员会（SEC）之间的官司纠缠逾3年，主审法官周三裁定，Ripple因直接向机构客户出售瑞波币（XRP）违反了证券法，被判罚款1.25亿美元，远低于SEC要求的近20亿美元罚款总额。

不排除SEC上诉纽约南区地区法官Analisa Torres在周三的裁决中维持了去年7月的原判，认定Ripple通过在交易所向散户销售XRP并无不妥，但与机构客户之间的1,278笔销售交易则违反了证券法。不过，仍不排除美国SEC会继续上诉的可能性。

在案件审理期间，美国SEC曾试图就这一部分裁决提出上诉，但未能成功。

SEC今年3月请求法院判罚20亿美元去年10月，美国SEC撤销了对Ripple首席执行官Brad Garlinghouse和执行主席Chris Larsen的指控，并在今年3月请求法院对Ripple处以近20亿美元的罚款，其中包括1.982亿美元的判决前利息、8.763亿美元的民事罚款和8.763亿美元的不法所得。
